What You Will Do
This position will be filled at either the Engineering Technologist 2 or 3 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.
The successful candidate will be expected to perform the following duties of this position in the areas of system and facility configuration management and technical baseline management, including:
Following, reviewing, and updating detailed technical procedures.
Supporting configuration management.
Defining and controlling system and facility modifications.
Assisting in the implementation of the facility safety basis.
Maintaining system and facility technical baselines.
Monitoring, tracking, and trending of major systems.
Defining maintenance requirements.
Troubleshooting; root cause analysis Preparing detailed corrective maintenance instructions for complex or critical systems.
Implementing LANL’s Conduct of Engineering (COE) Program.
Performing facility and system walk downs.
Engineering Technologist 3
In addition to the duties outlined above, the Engineering Technologist 3 will be required to:
Uses professional concepts and Laboratory objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.
Frequently contributes to the development of new methods and approaches.
Develops resolution to complex problems that require the frequent use of creativity and where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Engineering Technologist 2 ($81,600 - $133,400)
Demonstrated technical experience in design engineering or system engineering for nuclear or industrial facility operations.
Demonstrated working experience with industry codes and standards.
Demonstrated working experience in engineering including design, commissioning, troubleshooting, and technical baseline maintenance.
Demonstrated experience with modification definition and control.
Demonstrated ability to communicate well, both written and verbally.
Experience with maintenance testing/ acceptance testing.
Demonstrated knowledge of DOE and LANL standards applicable to facility design, operation, and maintenance.
At least one year of experience in a nuclear facility.
Awareness of LANL Quality Policies and Procedures.
High school diploma (Technical associate’s degree or college bachelor’s degree preferred).
5 years of directly related experience. Engineering Technologist 3 ($89,900 – $148,300) In addition to the minimum job skills outlined for the Technologist 2 position, the skills listed below are minimum job skills for the Technologist 3 position:
Expert knowledge of engineering systems and calculations, applications of engineering methods and technology aided engineering tools to conventional and non-conventional facility and operations-based engineering problems.
Engineered equivalency analysis.
Demonstrated knowledge of engineering work planning and control methods.
Expert knowledge of engineering maintenance techniques and construction methods.
Demonstrated knowledge of industry codes and standards in respective discipline.
Minimum 6-8 years of directly related work experience.
Additional Details :
Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements
for access to classified matter.
