What You Will Do
The Engineering Technology and Design Group is seeking a resourceful graduate research intern for a hands-on project that will focus on assisting a small commercial business with deployment of and assessing a new on-site water treatment technology. This unique opportunity will allow the selected intern to participate as a member of a collaborative LANL/Company team performing the following: a) Review and verify installation of a water on-site treatment design case; b) Create a test the plan per the NSF 350 standard; c) Procure services of a testing company/agency; d) Oversee testing and ensure appropriate data is recorded, with a test report written; and E) Evaluate test results for possible design changes needed to system. Work will be conducted both in an office setting and in the field at the design case location. The intern will be involved in all aspects of the project and the duties will require the intern to provide regular status updates to other team members and meet agreed upon deliverables. An Engineering Graduate Student (civil, mechanical, hydrology, environmental) or Science Graduate Student (applied chemistry or physics, water science & management) is being sought for this position.

Minimum Job Requirements:
Demonstrated ability to successfully manage their own time, be a self-starter, and be able to work independently as well as in a small team environment.
Demonstrated ability to break down large complex problems into a series of smaller problems that can then be solved, and understand how to relate them all together.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Engineering Graduate Degree student (civil, mechanical, hydrology, environmental), or Science Graduate Degree student (applied chemistry or physics, water science & management).
Essential Job Functions (can perform with or without reasonable accommodation):
- Able to lift and carry 5 to 10 pounds.
- Able to drive for off-site work related to testing.
Must currently have and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent).
Must be enrolled in at least 6 semester credit hours (or full-time equivalent) in an accredited degree program.
No Clearance: Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
