Los Alamos National Laboratory Group Leader (Manufacturing Manager 4) in Los Alamos, New Mexico
What You Will Do
We are looking for a highly motivated, customer service focused, and highly experienced individual to lead the Prototype Fabrication Production (PF-PROD) Group.The group serves as the primary interface between customers and the Division’s fabrication services, ensuring high quality, on-time deliveries. The Group is the lead organization for non-nuclear production support to NNSA through the Mark Quality Manufacturing Center (MQMC). The MQMC uses a total quality management approach, state of the art equipment, and lean manufacturing principles to deliver world-class reliable components and manufacturing solutions. This same approach is being extended to LANL customers requiring precision prototype components. The Group is also responsible for all maintenance activities in the Division. As the Manufacturing Manager 4, you will report to the PF Division leader and serve as an active member of the Division leadership team. The successful candidate will be responsible for group operations, which include: planning and coordination of technical initiatives; monitoring schedules to ensure timely delivery of fabrications; ensuring communications within the group to promote quality customer service; and developing and maintaining technologies integral to PF-PROD operations. A key element of this position is the ability to interact well with our NNSA mission partners and our LANL program managers.

Minimum Job Requirements:
Management/Communication: Demonstrated record of successful management within a line organization, including support of performance and salary management, budgeting, recruitment, conflict resolution, developing staff growth opportunities and matching resource skills to mission needs. Demonstrated commitment to safety, security, environment, and quality. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all levels of Laboratory personnel, and internal and external customers.
Safety: Demonstrated application of health and safety practices in a moderate hazard work environment.
Manufacturing: Demonstrated experience with product development, particularly systems engineering approaches to product life-cycle management.
Project Management: Application of excellent planning, organizational, and communication skills to meet key commitments and deliverables for multiple concurrent projects with a range of priorities.
Continuous Improvement: Formal training and experience in leading organizational processes and creating a culture of continuous improvement using Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and/or other CI methodologies and tools.
Education/Experience: A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, materials science, engineering or a related science and 8 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
A strong record of developing new projects and programs, particularly with NNSA organizations or other federal agencies.
Experience with oversight of industrial manufacturing equipment and processes.
A strong record of delivering high-quality solutions that meet or exceed customer requirements.
