What You Will Do
Reporting to the Human Resources Field & Central Services (HR-FCS) Group Leader, serve as the primary point-of-contact to an assigned Deputy Laboratory Associate Director (DLD) leading DLD wide HR programs and initiatives. This position will also serve as the primary interface to HR management regarding customer business priorities and objectives. The Lead HR Generalist will direct work activities and provide operational direction within their assigned team. This will consist of:
Establishing and managing work priorities, balancing Generalists workloads, managing resources, mentoring, training and driving consistency across field services.
Lead the implementation of HR policies and partners with customer organizations to ensure complete understanding of complex or unusually significant HR-related business needs and objectives.
Work under consultative direction toward long-range targets, act as advisor and/or facilitator for customer staffing and hiring process, employee relations issues, and personnel actions to assure compliance with Laboratory standards.
Monitor existing personnel programs to ensure desired objectives and/or results are being achieved and use independent judgment for determining course of action to accomplish objectives.
Develop advanced concepts, techniques, and standards based on professional principles and theories.
Work on unusually significant, unique or complex issues; provide solutions that are highly creative and analyze situations or data that require an evaluation of intangibles.
Proactively partner with HR core organizations to establish proactive HR programs.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Expert-level knowledge and consultative experience with HR theories, principles, practices, and understanding of HR as an interrelated system of functional operations.
Expert-level knowledge and consultative experience in a majority of the following HR-related disciplines: benefits, compensation, affirmative action/equal employment opportunity, employee relations, staffing, other core HR services, employee development, etc.
Demonstrated experience applying complex/specialized knowledge to address organizational business needs.
Advanced knowledge and consultative experience with a variety of customer organizations as well as knowledge of organizational structure, mission and goals, including the ability to effectively interact with senior-level management and executives.
Advanced skills in the preparation and presentation of oral and written reports.
Demonstrated experience leading and facilitating strategic HR activities and special projects.
Proven ability to coordinate the work of others and to create and sustain a team environment that fosters learning and collaboration.
Demonstrated ability to successfully mentor junior or new staff.

Detailed knowledge of organization and business as well as knowledge of lab organizational structure, mission and goals.
Active DOE Q clearance.
Education: Position typically requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of twelve years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At this level, postgraduate coursework may be expected.
