Los Alamos National Laboratory has an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional to help us develop and administer best-in-class data analytics programs in support of Human Resources and Los Alamos National Laboratory.
Reporting to the Group Leader for Compensation and Workforce Data Analysis within the Human Resources Division. The HR Workforce Analytics Specialist 2 will join a highly collaborative team devoted to supporting managers and organizations across the Laboratory to understand and make decisions about Human Resources related information. The candidate will utilize standard statistical and reporting techniques to develop a broad range of HR analytics to guide and inform management decisions in HR-related disciplines. The candidate will be expected to develop reports, including tables, graphs, charts, and be able to discuss the analysis and communicate the results. Results of analyses and related recommendations will be communicated to all levels of LANL management and will cover a wide variety of subjects. The candidate takes initiative to research and identify trends and patterns in the LANL workforce and, utilizing quantitative metrics, develop and recommend strategies that will assist managers with decision-making as it relates to employee and workforce issues. The candidate will also serve as an internal consultant to support LANL customers in survey design, execution, and research.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Demonstrated experience in the development of reports that include tables, graphs, charts, with proven ability in presenting the analysis successfully communicating the results to key stakeholders and management. Demonstrated experience researching and identifying trends and patterns in an organization’s workforce utilizing quantitative metrics; proven ability in developing and recommending strategies that contributed in management decision-making relative to employee and workforce issues.
Knowledge and experience in the preparation of HR information with proven ability in collaborating with all levels of employees and management in the review and finalization of reporting information.
Knowledge in program design and best-practices, including demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and/or administrating new theories and reporting methods.
Experience communicating complex philosophies and/or strategies, including the demonstrated ability to incorporate data-driven proposals, presentation of ideas, and successfully challenge, persuade, and network with key contacts outside own area of expertise.
Working knowledge of HR information systems and/or relational databases supporting compensation, report writing tools (e.g. Oracle, SAP, Access, PeopleSoft, SQL, etc.)
Education and Years of Relevant Experience
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and a minimum of five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience and/or achievements that demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the job.
Experience with MicroStrategy designing, implementing, and/or administering reporting tools.
Knowledge and experience working with Oracle systems.
Quantitative, analytical, and problem solving skill to interpret complex data to identify trends.
Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint software, Survey Management tools, and HRIS systems.

Location: This position will be part of the Laboratory’s Telework Pilot and may work from a remote/home location within a two-hour ground commute of the Laboratory. The Telework Pilot is in effect from Oct. 1, 2020 through Sept. 30, 2021, but may be shortened or extended at the manager’s discretion. Ability to report on-site is a must for this position.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year .
