What You Will Do
The Network and Infrastructure Engineering (NIE) Division manages the network, telecommunications, collaboration, cyber defenses, and virtual computing infrastructure for the Laboratory. The division is organized within five groups and provides the following services:
Configuration and Development Services (NIE-CDS) - provides enterprise level configuration management, vulnerability patching and remediation, and system and software development needed for those services.
Infrastructure Services (NIE-IS) - responsible for providing unclassified and classified institutional compute and storage, operating systems (OS) support for Laboratory business systems, institutional network services, and managing the institutional datacenters.
Engineering and Security Services (NIE-ESS) - responsible for the Lab's classified and unclassified institutional network services and for the security of the institutional network infrastructure.
Core Services (NIE-CS) - provides production systems for the division. A primary responsibility of this group is managing infrastructure for LANL’s Enterprise information technology applications.
Telecommunication Services (NIE-TS) - provides telecommunication technologies and services enabling science, programs, and operations at LANL. The group provides the entire Lab with voice, wireless, data, and video communication services.
NIE is seeking post bachelor level students looking for a challenging paid internship. Each selected candidate will be provided with a mentor and be assigned to a team based on their skills and interests and on the needs of the organization.
The NIE workforce is comprised of Cybersecurity Technical Staff, Computing Systems Tec & Professionals, System Programmers, Solutions Architects, Computer Operator Technicians, IT Managers, Network Professionals, Network Security Professionals, Telecommunications Specialists and students.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in any Information Technology discipline (or equivalent) awarded in the past three years to include:
Administrator (Database or computer systems)
Analyst (information security or computer systems)
Developer (software or web)
Management Information Systems
Have a minimum cumulative GPA of a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Good interpersonal communication skills.
Not currently accepted or enrolled in a graduate program.
- Experience working in IT
Education : Bachelor’s degree in above mentioned areas, granted within the last three years.
