Los Alamos National Laboratory Knowledge Management Specialist (Technical Project Manager 1) in Los Alamos, New Mexico

This KM Specialist position will coordinate an exciting new weapons program knowledge capture campaign from concept through execution – development of campaign processes and tools, identification of expertise for capture, coordination with subject matter experts and media services for video production, and upload of finalized videos. This role will also provide various leadership roles for tools such as Weapons Video Service (WVS) through exceptional customer support, management of classified content, processing of videos and materials, and development and documentation of guidance. Leadership and application of WVS, other similar tools, and the knowledge capture campaign specifically for weapons production and its supporting organizations is a key component to this position.

This position contributes to the larger KM program through developing tools and processes for identifying essential knowledge in weapons mission areas; implementing KM program initiatives, and contributing to the overall KM strategic framework.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

The Knowledge Management Specialist role requires an experienced professional with analytical aptitude, strong organizational skills, ability to perform a wide variety of duties with minimal supervision, ability to get along with and lead others, and strength in building relationships across organizations.

Communication:

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to interact with a variety of customers across organizational boundaries. Experience in soliciting information and cooperation from multiple levels of personnel; proven experience preparing clear, concise and informative reports, correspondence, processes, procedures and other written materials.

Technical:

Demonstrated experience in designing, developing, and implementing knowledge management initiatives (i.e. knowledge capture, content management, and/or knowledge sharing); demonstrated experience in implementation of software applications including documenting processes and tools and fielding customer requests/questions.

Project Management:

Entry‐level knowledge of project management of technical or operational work, including developing project plans, budgeting, work packages, and performance tracking. Ability to be self-directed and also provide leadership and tactical planning for execution of small and/or less‐complex projects.

Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution and 2 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. Preference will be given to candidates with an advanced degree in a related field.

Desired Qualifications:

Additional attributes that may make a candidate even better in this position include a broad familiarity of the Weapons Program, the ideals of knowledge management, ability to interact with weapons programs experts, and access and experience with mission and institutional tools for supporting the KM project team.

Program knowledge:

Working knowledge of weapons program mission scope and people, especially weapons production.

Operational knowledge:

Experience working with Laboratory business systems and other operations tools.

Evaluation:

Experience establishing and creating program evaluation and metrics tools.

Classified Matter:

Experience working in and with classified content, systems and tools.

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 .
