Los Alamos National Laboratory Los Alamos Employees&#8217; Scholarship Fund (LAESF): LANL Scholars Internship Program in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do

The LAESF: LANL Scholars Internship Program offers summer internships for graduating high school seniors and undergraduate students who are current recipients of a LAESF scholarship. The program is an educational program that provides students with relevant work experience while preparing to begin and pursue an undergraduate degree. This educational program is designed to complement the students’ education with work experience related to their chosen field of study. Internships are available in science, research, professional, and support fields. Students are assigned to tasks and activities appropriate for their academic and work backgrounds.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

Students who wish to participate in the LAESF: LANL Scholars Internship Program must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a current recipient of a LAESF scholarship.

  • Be at least 16 years of age at the time the internship begins.

  • Be a U.S. Citizen. If you are interested in applying for an internship and are not a US Citizen, please contact Mike Ammerman at the LANL Foundation by emailing mike@lanlfoundation.org to discuss options.

  • Have and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

  • Pass a new employment drug test. The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.

  • Provide documentation of acceptance into an undergraduate program, if the student has not yet started an undergraduate program and/or enrolled in courses.

  • Once the student starts an undergraduate program, the student must enroll in and successfully complete a minimum of 12 undergraduate credit hours per semester.

Location: This position will be physically located in Los Alamos, NM.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 . Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

No Clearance: Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.

Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
