What You Will Do

This position supports the MSS-RLUOB group in providing customer service to the Waste Facilities (WCRRF, TWF and RANT) through performance of facility maintenance activities. Providing direct or indirect support to the maintenance function of a facility through the implementation and/or administrative control of a variety of maintenance programs, policies, functions, and objectives. Verifies that maintenance activities are performed within technical specifications, manufacturer's requirements, and/or generally accepted industry practices. Primary expectations for the chosen candidate include a willingness to work as part of a team, a desire to engage in continuous learning, and an understanding of what it means to demonstrate ownership of their role.

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Safety and security are a primary responsibility for all Laboratory employees. Maintains required safety and security training, assures safety and security compliance, and makes safety and security an integral part of every task, including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security.

  • Track and maintain status of service requests and work execution schedules, reporting regularly to your Team Leader or Maintenance Manager

  • Assists in the review and implementation of predictive and preventive maintenance programs on new and existing equipment.

  • Generates and prepares reports to provide management with the history and current status of maintenance activities.

  • Assists in assessments of maintenance activities and programs based upon existing programs, policies, objectives, and good maintenance practices.

  • Implement and support Conduct of Operations, Conduct of Maintenance, and Conduct of Engineering processes as they pertain to facility work

  • Assists in implementing approved program improvement recommendations, changes, and corrective actions.

  • Develops and recommend method improvements impacting the areas of safety, work implementation, planning, scheduling, and acceptance testing.

  • Assists in forecasting and planning resources necessary to support maintenance activities.

  • Coordinates maintenance for assigned facilities.

  • Understands and adheres to all Laboratory and industry regulatory guidance and governance specific to facility maintenance.

  • Ensures all facility maintenance results, materials, processes and final products meet quality specifications and are completed according to established requirements.

  • Serve periodically on a rotating on-call team, responding to abnormal condition alarms and emergency events at duty areas at night, or on weekends

  • Fosters a mutually respectful work environment that is free from discrimination and harassment.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal/written)

  • Proficiency with personal computer use, particularly Microsoft Excel

  • Performing all work in accordance with Conduct of Operations, Conduct of Maintenance, and Conduct of Engineering (or equivalent)

  • Experience with facility, mechanical, and/or electrical administrative maintenance.

  • Ability to understand and interpret various mechanical and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics.

  • Ability to fully utilize and manipulate a computerized work management system, personal computer software, and site licensed programs in creating and maintaining maintenance reports. Facility management tools that may include Footprints and Asset Suite.

  • Ability to fully communicate major elements of facility maintenance to both technical and non-technical personnel.

  • Skill in the preparation and presentation of facility maintenance reports.

  • Full understanding of the Laboratory's facility maintenance policies, practices, and procedures.

  • Ability to support after hour call outs and Seasonal Preservation walk downs.

Desired Skills:

  • Active Q-Clearance

  • Working knowledge of legal requirements and environmental impacts affecting maintenance activities.

  • Full understanding of the Laboratory's work control and facility policies, practices, and procedures.

Education: Position typically requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
