Los Alamos National Laboratory Maintenance Engineering Technologist 3 (Engineering Technologist 3) in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do The position is located in Los Alamos, NM.

You, as the Maintenance Engineering Technologist will initiate and conduct engineering assignments with specific engineering responsibilities in support of detonator component manufacturing for the Detonator Engineer Group (DP-ENG). You will establish and ensure compliance within a formal preventative maintenance program. Perform technical research and gather data needed by engineers to solve technical maintenance problems and to recommend actions. You will use analytical and/or scientific software, computer-aided design and will use mathematical computations to solve various problems. In a collaborative environment you will work directly with engineers,technicians, administrative staff to meet the division’s goals and objectives, while maintaining positive values and behaviors.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

Teaming: Ability to work with manufacturing/process engineers and external customers on various maintenance issues, including working with process engineers on establishing and specifying maintenance criteria on new equipment acquisitions while in the planning stage.

Technical knowledge: Experience in maintenance processes. Knowledgeable in the operation and troubleshooting of industrial equipment (examples: large presses, photolithography equipment) used to support manufacturing.

Computer Skills: Basic knowledge of computer-aided drafting techniques, CADD modeling and design. Demonstrated experience and knowledge of computer systems and applications including Microsoft Office software.

Drawing interpretation: Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions, procedures, plans, emergency, safeguards, and security procedures.

Training: Demonstrated performance as an on-the-job (OJT) instructor.

Strategic: Demonstrated ability to implement a preventive maintenance program with a long range to move to a predictive maintenance program.

Education/Experience : Position requires a Bachelor’ Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology Science, Math or related degree from an accredited institution and 8 years of directly related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Desired Qualifications:

Manufacturing Demonstrated expertise in flat and/or coaxial cable manufacturing techniques.

Recognized expert in the operations of industrial equipment (i.e. photolithography, large presses and punches, machining tools)

Engineering drawings and understand dimensional and physical tolerances.

Work Environment:

Work with toxic, and irritant chemicals requiring safety glasses, eye protection, and protective shielding of body/torso
