Los Alamos National Laboratory Manufacturing Manager 3 in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do

We want you to join the Detonator Production team,which provides superior quality and value in providing detonation related products and services to assist in the protection of our nation and promote world stability.

As the Manufacturing Manager (First Line) for the Manufacturing Engineering Group, you will lead a team of talented Process and Manufacturing Engineers along with Engineering Technologists to provide consistent implementation of controlled processes, by providing thorough engineering and scientific analysis, and utilizing this adaptive approach to support lab objectives. You will collaborate closely with the Manufacturing Manager 4 (Group Leader) to assist in the development, management and strategy implementation for the Group. The Group’s success will rely heavily on the partnerships you will create and maintain with several other technical organizations within the Detonator Production Division and the Associate Laboratory Directorate for Weapons (ALDW).

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

Leadership and Management: Experience in a management position; with demonstrated proven ability to effectively lead teams, manage, supervise, and develop employees.

Safety: Demonstrated application of health and safety practices

Manufacturing: Experience leading teams by applying manufacturing engineering techniques and standards.

Project Management: Application of excellent communication and organizational skills to creating ownership and accountability to meet key commitments and deliverables for multiple concurrent projects with a range of priorities.

Continuous Improvement: Formal training and experience in leading organizational processes and creating a culture of continuous improvement using Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and other CI methodologies/tools.

Education/Experience : Position requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and 5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications:

High Explosives: Working knowledge of nuclear weapons and the U.S. stockpile.

National Security: Demonstrated experience interacting with one or more National Security Enterprise Production Agencies (NSE PAs).

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 . Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served at least one year of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the one year of continuous service, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader.Please refer to Laboratory Policy P701 for applicant eligibility requirements.
