What You Will Do
Detonator Operations is an operational support group focused on the development and execution of support systems and services, for the Detonator Production Agency (PA). The Group manages the high explosives inventory and supports shop floor control, procurement, packaging and transportation (P&T), warehouse management, production planning, document control, records management and facility interface.
This position is one of two First Line Managers that will report directly to the Detonator Manufacturing Support Group Leader (DP-SUP). The successful candidate will provide leadership and management for a group of talented professionals, focused in production planning and inventory management. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for managing the local access control function. The successful candidate responsibilities include, but are not limited to, warehouse operations (shipping, receiving, inventory accuracy, inventory allocations, and storage strategies), local access control operations, overseeing all of production planning as it relates to manufacturing support.
The successful candidate will need to work with several other technical organizations within the Associate Laboratory Directorate of Weapons Production (ALDWP) including facility operations, program and engineering to achieve its goals and deliverables.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Leadership: Record of strong leadership and employee development in a manufacturing environment. Specifically, a strong record of meeting customer deliverables through organizational accountability and a history of promoting employee engagement and teamwork to hit deliverables.
Planning: Demonstrated experience with production planning, scheduling, and methods to establish shop floor control.
Warehouse Operations: Advanced experience with inventory management systems to support manufacturing operations. Establishing storage strategies to meet near and long term needs. Establishing method for maintaining inventory accuracies and timely delivery to assure continuous manufacturing operations. Established shipping and receiving processes.
Continuous Improvement: Advanced experience and formal training related to improving organizational processes and creating a culture of continuous improvement using Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and other CI methodologies/tools.
Presentation skills: Strong interpersonal, presentation, and written skills. Examples of this might be: facilitated events such as seminars, briefings, presentations, and/or publications. Ability to communicate successfully and deploy guidance on corporate objectives, policy and/or procedure.
Education/Experience: Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field from an accredited institution and 5 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. Minimum of two years of previous management experience. Education or experience that is job-related may be substituted for a degree on a case-by-case basis.
Experience within the Department of Energy (DOE): Demonstrated experience interacting with DOE/NNSA.
Experience with training and document control methods: Demonstrated experience managing support operations such as training and document control.
Experience with access control functions: Understanding of methods to maintain access controls to limited access areas for safety and security purposes.
