What You Will Do
Working in OS-WSO, the candidate will perform material management and warehouse support for the daily operations of LANL’s telecommunications, network and infrastructure. Maintain a solid rapport with customers, perform process reviews and audit that help Laboratory managers comply with National Security Administration (NNSA) Department of Energy (DOE), and institutional requirements.
An experienced professional with a full understanding of a specialized area plus working knowledge of telephony and data networking. This job is the fully qualified, career-oriented, journey-level position. Responsible for the domestic and international shipments of hazardous and non-hazardous material by accepting, reviewing and processing shipping request and receipt of material into the warehouse. Contributes to the development of organization's goals and objectives. Works under limited direction; receives general instructions on new assignments. Work is evaluated upon completion to ensure objectives have been met. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Determines approach to solutions, plans schedule and arranges own activities in accomplishing objectives. Safety and security are a primary responsibility for all Laboratory employees. Maintains required safety and security training, assures safety and security compliance, and makes safety and security an integral part of every task, including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security.
Perform physical acceptance of incoming shipments.
Verifies quantities, property number tagging and systems acceptance of material as it relates to a laboratory purchase orders.
Receives request from customers, ensuring documentation is complete to process orders.
Primary contact for Oracle receiving issues with vendors and customers.
Uses basic material handling equipment, pallet jacks, two-wheel cart, conveyor system, and over 10 ton forklift.
Maintains and performs document retention.
Initiates, completes, and resolves freight damage claims.
Performs packaging functions related to outbound shipments, including package design and construction of off-normal and unusual shipments
Performs physical acceptance of incoming shipments, relating to numerous methods of acquisitions, including procurement card (P-card), Oracle, and procurement desktop.
Verifies quantities, property number tagging, and systems acceptance of material as it relates to a Laboratory receipt or shipment.
Performs barcode scanning of material related to Oracle punch out purchases.
Communicates with internal customers to resolve charge code issues.
Performs cycle counts and yearly physical inventories of property.
Process returns, and create shipping requests for off-site LANL operations.
Responsible for awareness of suspicious packages at all times.
Reports all inaccurate addressed classified packages to the security incident team (SIT).
Serves as forklift operator.
Understands and adheres to all Laboratory and industry regulatory guidance and governance specific to materials management.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Ability to maintain good business relationships between the organization and vendors.
Working knowledge of computer software systems such as Oracle applications, MS Word, MS Excel.
Demonstrated safety practices in a material handling environment.
Knowledge of telephone and data networking.
Experience and knowledge of ISP and OSP cables and fiber optics material and their proper handling.
Experience with performing accountability and warehouse functions using best business practices.
Knowledge/understanding of government regulations affecting materials management and transportation.
Excellent communication skills (Verbal and written)
Ability to obtain a Class B driver's license.
Working knowledge of Laboratory systems including, Oracle, procurement desktop.
Knowledge of Laboratory organizational structure.
Knowledge of Laboratory objectives and other statements of policy/practice/procedures.
Education: Position typically requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum three- five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements
for access to classified matter.
Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
