What You Will Do
A position is available (starting in October 2020) for a highly talented and motivated post-bachelors researcher to engage in a synthetic biology research project. The project involves the engineering of microbial organisms for novel capacities. This involves genome engineering of strains and creation and selection of protein mutant libraries. The successful candidate will do this work in collaboration with a team of Ph.D. staff scientists and Post doctoral fellows with expertise in the areas of organic synthesis, RNA/protein biochemistry, bioinformatics and protein engineering.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Strong oral and written communication skills to present and summarize research results.
Understanding of DNA manipulation techniques including PCR and cloning.
Ability to manage time and see tasks to completion.
Knowledge of sterile technique.
Basic understanding of microbial metabolism and enzyme catalysis.
Independence and drive to assimilate the state-of the-art and synthesize novel research directions, techniques or ideas.
Knowledge of, or experience with analytical techniques, such as, HPLC, spectrometry and fluorescence spectroscopy.
Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology/molecular biology or related field, completed within the last three years, with the requisite laboratory experience. Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or its equivalent.
