What You Will Do The Nuclear Materials Specialist position involves extensive data management and the use of data analysis tools related to nuclear materials management. The position requires attention to detail and the ability to work and communicate effectively with individuals at various levels in the organization and with external organizations. Primary responsibilities include nuclear materials data collection; inventory analysis; reporting, forecasting and data distribution to assist managers in optimizing processing, shipping, storage and disposition of nuclear material. The specialist will also participate in efforts related to nuclear material shipping to include scheduling meetings; tracking nuclear material disposition records; creating queries, reports, feed lists; and performing analyses to support nuclear material disposition. Travel and off-site work is required to meet position requirements and will vary depending on mission/project needs. Typical travel locations are other NNSA sites (e.g., LLNL, SNL, and NNSS).
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Basic knowledge of data analysis, including planning, trending, reporting and controlling.
Basic knowledge of database queries, forms, and reports.
Demonstrated oral, written, and presentation skills.
Demonstrated experience in a customer focused position.
Knowledge of classified computing and classified document handling requirements.
Knowledge of nuclear materials management (e.g., material storage, control, shipping, or disposition).
Experience with LAMCAS/LANMAS.
Active Q Clearance preferred.
Education: Position typically requires a minimum of two years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Where You Will Work The Strategic Projects and Engineering (SPE) Division’s primary mission is to ensure Los Alamos National Laboratory, through the Associate Laboratory Director for Weapons Production, successfully executes its mission assignments involving nuclear science, technology, and weapons components. SPE provides manufacturing systems, engineering and design, process improvement, project management, and strategic science and engineering expertise to the entire cross section of technical programs and groups across the Weapons Production Directorate. SPE-2 directly supports the nuclear material storage program, NASA heat source design agency, and the operation and implementation of manufacturing systems. Located in northern New Mexico, Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in strategic science on behalf of national security.
