What You Will Do
The Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) Environmental Protection and Compliance Division (EPC) is seeking an Operational Assurance Specialist 3 to help drive operational excellence. This position reports to the Environmental Protection andCompliance Division Leader and will support the plans, procedures, training, and document control for the Environmental Protection & Compliance (EPC) Division. This position is an opportunity to ensure that planned and systematic actions are taken to implement, document, record, and improve environmental compliance activities. Such responsibilities include:
Working with program subject matter experts, ensuring that required environmental compliance programs are documented in current procedures.
Ensuring that deliverables to stakeholders and regulatory authorities are of impeccable quality, consistent, and delivered on time.
Assisting program subject matter experts with records management.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Demonstrated experience in with environmental regulations, requirements, and policies.
Advanced knowledge of and experience with operational assurance activities including, but not limited to, occurrence reporting and investigation, providing thorough and accurate documentation of technical and/or statistical analyses, and developing and disseminating lessons learned.
Advanced experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions to complex problems associated with operational assurance.
Advanced skills to conceptualize and communicate elements of operational assurance to technical and non- technical personnel.
Advanced skills in the preparation and presentation of reports and documents.
Education and Years of Relevant Experience
Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 8 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Demonstrated skill in the preparation and presentation of reports and deliverables.
Demonstrated experience in participating and supporting management assessments.
Demonstrated experience or education in editing and compositing documents.

Location: This position will be part of the Laboratory’s Telework Pilot and may work from a remote/home location within a two-hour ground commute of the Laboratory. Employee participation in the Telework Pilot may be shortened or extended at the manager’s discretion. Ability to report on-site is a must for this position.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements
for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance which requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon position, additional authorization to access nuclear weapons information may be required that may or may not be available to dual citizens depending upon the circumstances.
Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. SeeDOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
