Los Alamos National Laboratory Operations Support Specialist 2 in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do

Come and join our nimble team of TA-55 Capital Projects construction professionals. The office of Associate Laboratory Directorate for Capital Projects TA-55 is seeking a high functioning Technical Project Coordinator to join our team. This position will provide day-to-day project support to the Project/Program Manager’s, management, and construction personnel which requires initiative, professionalism, discretion, and flexibility. The Technical Project Coordinator will provide expert support in all aspects of the business, operational, and programmatic functions for a complex new electronic work package software This position is essential to the successful execution of DevonWay the new electronic work package software. Work is conducted in a team environment that requires close collaboration, adaptability, taking initiative with task completion, and a willingness to provide support where needed. The successful candidate will maintain a professional office atmosphere and assume responsibility with minimal supervision, demonstrating accuracy and attention to detail, initiative, versatility, tact, and confidentiality in all matters. Must be a motivated performer capable of quickly changing focus, acting independently and comfortable with a broadly defined scope of work. Past experience and proven success in delivering quality training and software support is key to this position.

What you will do as a Technical Project Coordinator (OSS-2):

  • Assist the TA55 Capital Project (CP) team through the preparation and delivery of the very complex electronic work package through training, creation of plans & guides and leveraging experience and expertise in software.

  • Engage with the TA55CP team on current status updates, progress reports and presentations, action items, and lessons learned

  • Work closely with craft, planners,superintendents,TA55CP managers, and all other project functions to ensure that project organization is sound and defensible

  • Provides operational support for customers using standard operating procedures. Operational duties may include troubleshooting, granting permissions, and training users

  • Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains project computers in accordance with established IT policies and procedures

  • Be a point of contact between the internal customer and IT organizations along with external vendor

What You Need

Location: This position will be physically located in Los Alamos.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience working on Line Item Capital Projects or multiple fast pace project environments

  • Demonstrated experiencepreparing and assembling training materials (workbooks, pamphlets, supplies,etc.) and thecoordination of trainings

  • Strong record of the ability to work calmly under pressure of multiple deadlines, interruptions, and changing priorities

  • Demonstrated ability to interact professionally with all levels of employees, managers, craft, superintendents, support staff, and internal and external customers

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and efficiently under minimal supervision

  • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills including previous experience developing reports and presentations

  • Demonstrated initiative, independence, versatility, and accuracy with proven organizational and analytical skills

  • Experience with and solid understanding of laboratory business training, document control and IT Systems.

  • Workingknowledge of common computer-based applications (e.g., Microsoft Office), audio-visual and office equipment, and communication with PowerPoint presentation techniques both written and spoken

  • Q Clearance

Desired Skills:

  • Working knowledge of TA-55 and ALDCP Policies and Procedures

  • Familiarity with DevonWay electronic work package software or other electronic work package software’s

  • Successful professional experience working knowledge with training development and craft personnel

  • Working knowledge of/and experience in conducting research, evaluating alternatives, and determining solutions for process improvement

  • Ability to review and understand end-to-end work processes

  • Experience working in TA-55

Education Required:

  • Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution and 5 years of directly related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

  • This position may be subject to DOE Order 426.2, Personnel Selection, Training, and Qualification Requirements for DOE Nuclear Facilities. This DOE Order establishes entry-level requirements to ensure employees in the positions can successfully perform the requirements of the job.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 .
