Los Alamos National Laboratory Operations Support Specialist 2 in Los Alamos, New Mexico
What You Will Do
The Operations Support Specialist 2 will provide professional business and operational support, with particular attention to procurement and security responsibilities for all of Sigma Division. The selected candidate will be expected to operate with initiative, professionalism, dependability, and flexibility within a dynamic organization. Specific duties of the position include but are not limited to the following:
Serve as a Designated Procurement Representative (DPR) to purchase via PCard, Purchase Requests (PRs), and Blanket Order Agreements (BOAs).
Serve Sigma Division as a chemical and precious metals DPR.
Serve as point of contact and resource on procurement regulations, policies, and practices.
Assist customers with completion of Sole Source Justifications, Statements of Work (SOWs), Exhibits (e.g., Safety, Security, and Environmental Subcontractor Requirements), and all other required procurement documentation.
Work closely with Quality Assurance personnel to ensure quality requirements (e.g., Management Level) are met.
Assist Sigma Security Program Manager with programmatic security related responsibilities/deliverables (i.e. security assessment preparation, classified matter protection and management, cyber security, physical security)

Minimum Job Requirements
Knowledge of government procurement regulations, policies, and practices.
Knowledge of the Laboratory’s security and safeguards policies, practices, and procedures.
Demonstrated experience working effectively under pressure of deadlines, interruptions, and changing priorities, and the ability to follow multiple tasks to completion.
Demonstrated experience in decision making, organizing and prioritizing tasks, and taking initiative.
Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of internal and external personnel and customers; strong customer service and teaming skills.
The ability to receive a Q-Clearance, which typically requires U.S. citizenship.

An active Q clearance.
Knowledge of, and experience with, Laboratory purchasing systems (i.e., Oracle eBusines suite, Oracle iExpense, and iProcurement).
Experience with security and safeguards policies and procedures.
Familiarity with the Sigma Facility and the Sigma and MST organizations.
Experience with planning and scheduling work activities.
Demonstrated experience working with standardized software packages, including required software for a variety of systems and processes including purchasing, entering detailed accounting information, and tracking procurements.
Demonstrated skills in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions to problems affecting administrative activities, including procurement activities.
Education/Experience : Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution and 5 years of directly related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Location: This position will be physically located in Los Alamos.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.
