Los Alamos National Laboratory Operator 3 in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do

The selected candidate will support the Utilities and Institutional Facilities Division (UI) by performing after-hours surveillance on LANL buildings, systems, equipment, utility infrastructure, and LANL property/roadways. Primary duties include but are not limited to: Response to building automation system generated alarms, coordinating callout of resources for execution of corrective maintenance, reporting suspicious activity and abnormal findings to appropriate authorities, and communicating status of facilities and utilities to UI OperationsManagers, and the UI Duty Officer.

Serving as the Primary Point-of-Contact for UI after-hours, the Operator is responsible for conducting daily rounds to assigned areas and facilities, supporting Operations in monitoring Utility/Facility systems on an as-requested basis, completing rounds sheets, facilitating access into areas/buildings as needed, and generating/distributing daily report for Operation’s awareness. This position will also assist their Operations Manager with other areas within their responsibility. The person selected for this role will be required to be on rotating schedule including day-, swing-, and grave-shift assignment.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Demonstrated working knowledge with a formal conduct of operations as applied to utilities and/or facility systems

  • Ability to learn and implement DOE Orders

  • Demonstrated knowledge of typical facility electrical and mechanicalsystems,and their sub-systemsand components(i.e.,motor control centers, power/lighting panels, pumps, compressors, generators,building automation,etc.)

  • Experience implementing requirements of a lockout/tagout program to include equipment configuration, issuing locks, and proceduraldevelopment

  • Demonstrated ability to read, understand and explain electrical and mechanicaldrawings/specifications

  • Demonstrated experience with following detailed procedures, documenting actions, and completing logs for activities related to facility operations

  • Excellent interpersonal, written & verbalcommunication

  • Ability to promote an organizational culture focused on providing outstanding customerservice.

  • Valid NM Driver’s License required

Education: HS Diploma or equivalent

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 .
