What You Will Do
Candidates will assist in several projects related to new material design and material degradation mechanistic pathways. Candidates will use density functional theory (DFT) methods as well as molecular dynamics (MD) for this work. The use of the latest DFT methods with a vast understanding of stereoelectronic effects for new material design is required. Candidates will use transition state theory to assist in reaction development.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Solid background in the following:
Geometry optimization using the latest DFT methods
Transition state theory including use of intrinsic reaction coordinates (IRC) for assistance in reaction development
Strong knowledge of stereoelectronic interactions for new material design, including knowledge of NBO (Natural Bond Order) analysis
Strong knowledge and understanding of reaction mechanisms and the use of DFT methods to determine reaction and degradation pathways
Excellent written and oral communication skills as demonstrated by writing and/or editing technical journals, papers or proposals
Strong interpersonal and communication skills as demonstrated by experience with public speaking, experience presenting technical information and data to a broad audience, and experience working with interdisciplinary teams having diverse technical backgrounds
Ability to work productively on multiple projects as demonstrated by meeting deadlines, goals and requirements, ability to work with minimal supervision
