Los Alamos National Laboratory Planner 4 in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do

Come join our team and help us support the world class scientific excellence at LANL by ensuring that our Laboratory work areas support the broad mission sets and unique needs of the work performed here. As a Planner 4 in the IFPROG-Data Group, your duties will include working to ensure critical infrastructure, facilities and technologies are able to support the labs mission today as well as sustaining the mission in the future. The Data Group within the Infrastructure Program Office (IFPROG) at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is seeking interest from highly talented, motivated and customer-oriented applicants for a Planner 4 Position. This position supports the IFPROG Data Group in the Applied Delivery Technologies (ADT) Program. The ADT program supports initiatives tied to the research, testing and the deployment of emerging technologies. The program executes monthly, weekly and daily flight planning, flight execution, data review and safety analysis geared around unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) flights. The selected candidate will also support the assessments of vertical and linear assets in support of LANL’s BUILDER and CAIS programs. Participate in working groups both internal and external to foster collaboration relative to facilities, infrastructure, technologies and procedures that enables the sharing of best practices to solve unique challenges collectively for the DOE.

The selected candidate will work in a highly motivated and cohesive team to bring forth effective results. Designs and develops organizational policies relevant to ADT program initiatives and applications.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Ability to do the researching, testing and implementing technologies supporting the overall ADT mission.

  • Work to provide technical expertise and advice on services tied to the implementation of assessments on all real property assets.

  • Exercise leadership towards timely identification and resolution of coordination and access related issues or problems for all assessment activities and flights.

  • Contribute to the development of new work processes, tools, and procedures for real property asset management and technology implementation.

  • Ability to develop corrective actions resulting from internal and external assessments.

  • Ability to develop and implements facility and asset management policies and procedures.

  • Responsible for the delivery of operational excellence through the long-range planning and execution of process standards, improvement, tools and techniques.

  • Ability to create strategic plans to drive efficiencies, reduce expenses and mitigate safety issues.

  • Advise senior leadership on resource needs that will enable the program to increase efficiency in the delivery of the program deliverables.

  • Work to support internal and external stakeholder requirements and improve their customer service experience.

  • Ability to communicate on the implementation of asset management policies, procedures, and practices.

Training/Certifications: FAA Part 107 license or ability to obtain licensure quickly upon hiring.

Education/Experience: Position requires a bachelor’s degree and twelve years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Active FAA Part 107 license or the ability to obtain licensure quickly to facilitate UAV flights.

  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with facility management including systems engineering design and maintenance, configuration management programs, facility control systems, major construction projects, and upgrades and renovations

  • Thorough knowledge of the Laboratory organizational structure.

  • Expert knowledge in application of Department of Energy (DOE) Order 430.1C the NNSA NA-50’s Supplemental Order and guidelines applicable to real property management.

  • Expert knowledge and applicable experience with the Department of Energy (DOE) data systems such as BUILDER, CAIS, FIMS, G2 and SAFER

  • Expertise leading/facilitating problem solving teams.

Location: This position will be part of the Laboratory’s Telework Pilot and may work from a remote/home location within a two-hour ground commute of the Laboratory. The Telework Pilot is in effect from Oct. 1, 2020 through Sept. 30, 2021, but may be shortened or extended at the manager’s discretion.Ability to report on-site is a must for this position.

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 . Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served at least one year of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
