Los Alamos National Laboratory Post Master's Student Programmer and Analyst for Building Automation Systems in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do

  1. Assist in further developing and analyzing the effects of the BAS Team’s efforts to change the performance of BASs in response to upset conditions such as pandemics, forest fires, and shelter-in-place directives.

  2. Analysis and optimization of morning cool-down sequences of operation in BASs.

  3. Analysis of the effectiveness and energy reduction achieved by the advanced ‘Smart Lab’ technology installed in the Material Sciences Laboratory building (03-1698).

  4. Assist in the on-going development of a Condition Based Maintenance program based on BAS input currently underway in cooperation with MSS.

  5. Initiate a machine learning feature in the existing Sky-Spark analytics program on topics such as indicators of air handler health and information that may be obtained from examining high resolution electrical meter data.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering

  • Master’s degree in engineering o Eligibility is limited to students that have completed a master’s degree within the past three years o Cumulative 3.2/4.0 GPA

  • Some job history in advanced technical systems hardware and/or software development.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Background in sustainability, renewable energy, or energy conservation

  • Familiarity with engineering programming languages such as Matlab or Python.

Additional Details

No Clearance: Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.
