Los Alamos National Laboratory Postdoctoral Researcher in Computational Plasma Physics in Los Alamos, New Mexico
What You Will Do
The Center of Excellence for Kinetic-Plasma Simulations (CEKSi) has job openings for several postdoctoral positions in plasma theory and simulation. Successful candidates will work with a team of computational plasma physicists spread across multiple divisions at Los Alamos National Laboratory. The research will employ theoretical analysis along with state-of-the-art hybrid and fully kinetic simulations to address the physics of magnetic reconnection, shocks and particle acceleration relevant to space and laboratory applications; or to study plasma kinetic effects relevant to high energy-density environments, including Inertial Confinement Fusion.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Strong theoretical & computational background in plasma physics
Demonstrated record of scientific achievements
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
The position requires a Ph.D. in theoretical plasma physics or a closely related area earned within the last five years.
Demonstrated ability to carry out independent and collaborative research in computational plasma physics
Experience with large-scale fluid or kinetic plasma simulations
Experience comparing simulations with laboratory experiments and/or spacecraft observations
