What You Will Do
The Non-Destructive Testing & Evaluation Group (E-6) of the Engineering Technology and Design Division (E) requires an energetic, customer-focused professional for its operations. The selected candidate will contribute to performance of non-destructive testing, operations, and development. The work environment involves moderate hazards and classified settings, requiring demonstration of a strong commitment towards safety and security. The selected candidate will be expected to work independently and as a member of a team on challenging, concurrent projects, which require close cooperation, adaptability, initiative, and willingness to provide support wherever needed.

Minimum Job Requirements:
Computer Proficiency: Demonstrated knowledge working with computer systems and applications such as, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Safety and Security: Safety and security are a primary responsibility for all Laboratory employees. The successful candidate will maintain their required safety and security training, ensure compliance with safety and security requirements, and make safety and security an integral part of every task.
Team Building : Work collaboratively with team members to complete project/operational work on time and on schedule and strengthen team approaches to provide technical solutions.
Problem Solving: Work with direction toprovide technical solutions for streamlining technical/operational processes and actively contributing to the modernization of capabilities, knowledge and infrastructure. Balanceworking independently and as a team member to complete project/tasks.
Customer Service: E-6 prides itself on providing professional, courteous, and competent customer service to all internal and external customers. We are seeking someone with superior customer service skills –who can build rapport at all levels. Have the ability to develop and nurture effective internal customer relationships, and to interact effectively with all levels of personnel; building trust, gaining consensus, and resolving conflicts.
Education/Experience: Position typically requires a recognized degree in an engineering or scientific discipline, or specialized courses in related engineering discipline, or American Society for Quality Inspector Certifications; or six years of satisfactory performance as a receipt inspector 2 or 3 in the corresponding inspection, examination, or testing activities or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Working knowledge of a weapons program, at LANL or another National Laboratory
Experience in one or more of the following: Non-Destructive Testing method(s), inspection processes, x‐ray machines, mechanical systems, measurement tools.
Knowledge of the LANL’s organizational structure and policies, practices, and procedures.
Active Q clearance

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. SeeDOE Order 472.2for additional information.
HRP: This position is subject to the requirements of the DOE Human Reliability Program as specified in 10 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 712, §712.11. These requirements include on going drug and alcohol testing, as well as periodic medical and psychological evaluations.
426.2: This position is subject to DOE Order 426.2, Personnel Selection, Training, and Qualification Requirements for DOE Nuclear Facilities, which establishes entry-level requirements to ensure candidates selected for specific positions can successfully perform the requirements of the job.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
