What You Will Do

The Chemistry Division Office (C-DO) is seeking a motivated individual to provide high-level business and operational support to division-wide initiatives and requirements. The successful candidate will report to the C-DO Management Team, including the Division Leader, Deputy Division Leader, and Chief of Staff and work closely with C-DO staff and Chemistry Division line managers. The successful candidate must be able to work professionally and independently with minimal supervision, be well-organized, establish and balance priorities, and demonstrate initiative, versatility, and accuracy in performing their work.

Specific duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist in issues management and assessment planning by assembling reports, updates, data and objective evidence for ongoing issues.

  • Under established directions, oversee our large chemical inventory and help to arrange chemical and space clean-outs.

  • Under established directions, assemble and coordinate training reports for Group-level management.

  • Under established directions, coordinate logistics, scheduling, announcements, and administrative facilitation of business, operational, and/or programmatic meetings, special events and/or conferences.

  • Serve the Division as a Designated Procurement Representative and Administrative Subcontract Technical Representative for small subcontracts, such as university contracts.

  • Assist in records management and tracking of Divisional business and operational functions and initiatives.

  • Demonstrated experience working effectively under pressure of deadlines and interruptions, adapting to changing needs and priorities, following multiple tasks to completions.

  • Demonstrated experience working independently while maintaining excellent quality in daily operational work, as well as fine-tuned skills inorganizing, prioritizing, and following through to completion multiple projects with frequent interruptions under strict deadlines and changing priorities.

  • Demonstrated experience in effectively prioritizing tasks as well as assuming responsibility for projects and action items from inception to completion.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in standard software packages and systems, such as Microsoft Office applications.

  • Demonstrated record of dependability and reliability as proven through good attendance and quality of work.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of internal and external personnel and ability to build effective working relationships.

Desired Skills


  • Working knowledge and experience with LANL standard software packages and systems, including but not limited to: Microsoft Office, Outlook, Sharepoint, iProcurement, the LANL PCard System, and other procurement systems.

  • Experience with onsite service agreements and university contracts.

  • Experience with LANL training systems.

  • Familiarity with ChemDB Application or similar inventory systems.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Laboratory’s organizational structure and administrative policies, practices, and procedures.

  • Active Q Clearance

Education:Position typically requires a minimum of two years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Undergraduate coursework is preferred at this level.
