What You Will Do

The Professional Staff Assistant will be a key member of the Weapons Test Engineering Group (E-14) management team. You will serve as an integral member of the Group and larger Engineering Technology and Design (E) Division, and are responsible for providing professional business, operational and programmatic support to include, research and assembly of data for assigned projects and data calls; composing specialized reports, presentations, and/or planning and staffing documents for managers, providing logistics coordination of conferences, and special visits in the classified arena. Additionally, you may provide cross organizational support to groups outside of E Division as directed by your home organization.

You will work closely with the Group Leader to ensure programmatic success, continuous capability development and personnel development. You will also take the leading role in interfacing with the Division’s extended administrative operations team via direct and frequent interaction with the Chief of Staff.

  • Ability to lead, manage, and develop administrative staff and students.

Desired Skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Laboratory’s classified matter protection program (CMPC).

  • Experience with Laboratory purchasing (DPR), Data Warehouse, and Oracle software system

  • Desired knowledge and experience with LANL-specific business systems such as Concur, Foreign Travel, Oracle, Procurement, etc.

  • Knowledge and experience in personnel development

  • Desired knowledge of Chemlog & Issues Management System

  • Desired knowledge of PDMLink

  • Familiarity with Weapons Program mission and focus area

  • DOE Q clearance highly preferred.

  • Master’s Degree in Business Operations, Safety, Security or other LANL relevant area preferred.

Education: Bachelor’s degree and a minimum eight years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Where You Will Work

The Engineering Technology and Design Division (E Division) is the premier engineering solution provider for national security challenges that include mechanical and thermal, process modeling and and analysis, process and automation control, experimental device engineering and assembly, non-destructive testing and elavuaiton, advanced engineering analysis, and weapons test engineering. The Division works in close liaison with the several production facilities across the nuclear security complex as well as with the customers in the US Navy and Air Force. The Division is also tasked with broadly anticipating the scope of possible future modernizations and with enabling the various technology advances that they might require.Activities will include collaborations with the Weapon Systems Engineering Division (W)and Stockpile Modernization Division (Q). Projects vary widely from small weapon component and system level design, testing and computational simulation to experimental programs that require close integration and coordination with the US Navy and NNSA.
