What You Will Do

The Project Controls Group reports to the Program Performance Services organization within the Capital Projects Associate Level Directorate of Los Alamos National Laboratory. The Program Performance Services-Project Controls Group (PPS-PC) has over 150 employees deployed across the Laboratory performing project controls functions for both capital projects and science programs.

The Project Controls 3 performs cost estimating, analysis, and control activities. Performs schedule development, maintenance, and monitoring of activities.

The Project Controls 3 is considered an expert in field within the organization. Supervises and provides technical direction for cost engineering and/or planning/scheduling activities. This position requires demonstrated skills in identifying, analyzing, and providing innovative solutions to cost engineering and schedule guidance to projects that includes. Demonstrates a high degree of technical skilled experience directly associated with discipline/projects/proposal cost and planning activities. Ensures work is completed as scheduled and identifies cost trends for management attention. Work is accomplished independent of considerable direction. May coordinate activities of other personnel. Exerts significant latitude in determining objectives of assignment, and determines the methods and procedures needed for new assignments.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Experience in engineering and construction safety and security management.

  • Knowledge of engineering and/or construction management.

  • Extensive experience in project cost engineering and scheduling.

  • Experience in scheduling functions, including schedule development, control, and analysis.

  • Experience in field and office cost engineering functions, including cost estimating, cost control, and cost analysis.

  • Experience in preparing project control reports, plans, and detailed staffing utilization plans.

  • Experience in preparing cost/schedule data for proposals or contract negotiations.

  • Experience as a team leader providing personnel management support that includes technical and operational direction to assigned personnel.

  • Knowledge of specific project codes of accounts and recommends appropriate modifications and revisions.

  • Provides analysis and reports on assigned areas to the project.

  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills that includes proficiency in using personal computer operating systems, MS software applications and multiple discipline-specific software applications.

  • Position typically requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum eight years of Project Controls related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At this level, post graduate course work may be desirable.

Desired Skills: Q clearance or the ability to meet the requirements to attain DOE clearance at this level.
