Los Alamos National Laboratory Receipt Inspector (Quality Assurance Analyst 1/2) in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do

This position will be filled at either the Quality Assurance Analyst 2 or 3 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.

Quality Assurance Analyst 1 ($58,000 - $90,800)

As a Receipt Inspector in Production Quality Assurance (PAQ-2) you will perform detailed reviews of procurement and quality documentation, utilize the Oracle and Take business systems in performing the job, coordinate arrival and shipping of items to and from the weapons inspection receiving cage, and perform Dimensional and Visual Inspection. Receipt inspections are performed in accordance with customer specified criteria and in accordance with weapons-related DOE/NNSA NAP-401.1 requirements in order to ensure that specified technical and quality requirements are met. Other duties will include: providing assistance to LANL customer organizations on quality assurance issues and activities and supporting the supply chain assurance programs (e.g. receipt inspection, suspect/counterfeit parts intervention, supplier evaluations and procurement document reviews).

Quality Assurance Analyst 2 ($71,000 - $112,700)

In addition to the duties outlined above, the Quality Assurance Analyst 2 will apply quality assurance concepts and principles (e.g., management principles, configuration management, project monitoring and control, etc.) serve as a quality subject matter expert within the lab’s supply chain management system, and perform Dimensional and Visual Inspection as necessary.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

Quality Standards: Limited/entry-level knowledge and experience applying quality assurance regulatory, contractual, and technical documents, i.e., DOE Order 414.1D, 10 CRF 830, Weapons Quality Policy (NAP-401.1), ASME NQA-1, and Triad contract requirements.

Quality Inspections: Limited/entry-level experience with inspection principles and practices.

Quality Assurance: Limited/entry-level experience in performing reviews of quality documentation to ensure compliance with customer and defined regulatory requirements. Limited/entry-level experience interpreting drawings with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) and deploying measuring techniques as applicable.

In addition to having working knowledge of the Quality Assurance Analyst 1 requirements, the Quality Assurance Analyst 2 must have the following:

Customer Service: Proven record of working closely with customers to define expectations and mutual reasonability.

Education/Experience Quality Assurance Analyst 1: Position requires a minimum of two years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Education/Experience Quality Assurance Analyst 2: Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Desired Qualifications:

Weapons Systems: Knowledge of hazardous/nuclear material safety practices. Basic knowledge of weapons systems, manufacturing, production, and design operations and practices.

Quality Standards: Knowledge of and experience in the areas of quality assurance related to supply chain management.

Technical competence: Experience reviewing and revising procedures and plans.

C ommunication / Collaboration : Good oral and written communication skills; good team-building skills.

Certification : A recognized, relative industry certification in quality inspection/assurance such as ASQ’s CSQP, CQI, CQT, or CQIA certification.

This position will be physically located in Los Alamos, NM. This position will be part of the Laboratory’s Telework Pilot and may work from a remote/home location within a two-hour ground commute of the Laboratory.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 . Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements

  • for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance which requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon position, additional authorization to access nuclear weapons information may be required that may or may not be available to dual citizens depending upon the circumstances.

  • Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. SeeDOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
