What You Will Do
Exciting opportunity to be part of the patching and configuration management team managing the Red Hat Network Satellite Server (RHNSS) operations. RHNSS services approximately 2,000+ Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) workstations and servers on four different networks (unclassified, classified, and public facing). You will join a team of highly skilled professionals that manage a variety of enterprise-scale endpoint management services with great opportunities for growth and collaboration. You will work in the Network and Infrastructure Engineering Division supporting a computing environment scaling from “desktop to teraflops,” a diverse and challenging network environment unavailable anywhere else.
Work duties will include:
Third tier customer support for the RHNSS service and the Red Hat Enterprise Linux OS
Managing the operating system and applications supporting the service
Working with Red Hat support personnel to resolve issues affecting the LANL environment
Creating scripts and programs to automate routine processes using Bash, Python, and Perl
Collaborate with Quality Assurance team to ensure that issues are identified pro-actively before they impact operations
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Experience with Linux system administration
Familiarity with basic computer security concepts particularly password management
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to work in unclassified and classified computing environments
Ability to provide superior customer support
Ability to work in unclassified and classified environments
Education/Experience : Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field from an accredited institution and 2 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Direct experience working with Red Hat Enterprise Linux
Familiarity with at least one relational database system (MySQL, Postgres, Oracle, etc.)
Experience working with Virtual Machines (VMWare, VirtualBox, etc.)
Experience programming / scripting in BASH, Python, and/or Perl
Experience using Kickstart installations and the Anaconda installer
The ability to build RPM packages including editing SPEC files
Desired Training/Certifications :
GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC)
Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
Location: This position will be part of the Laboratory’s Telework Pilot and may work from a remote/home location within a two-hour ground commute of the Laboratory. Employee participation in the Telework Pilot may be shortened or extended at the manager’s discretion. Ability to report on-site is a must for this position.

for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance which requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon position, additional authorization to access nuclear weapons information may be required that may or may not be available to dual citizens depending upon the circumstances.
