What You Will Do

As a member of Personnel Security and reporting to the Personnel Security Team Leader, you will serve a vital function for the Laboratory’s Human Reliability Program (HRP). Some specialized duties at the Laboratory require HRP certification in order to conduct certain types of activities. In this position, you will use your skillset to help workers obtain and maintain HRP certification from the Department of Energy by using various databases to complete the required steps to gain eligibility into the program. You will work with other teams in Personnel Security to ensure only authorized individuals are allowed to perform HRP duties. You will work with multiple customers each day via telephone, chat, e-mail and in-person. You will be required to learn all applicable rules and regulations related to the Human Reliability Program and you will protect personal identifiable information.

You will work with multiple customers each day to complete their initial and annual HRP certification requirements. You will work closely with the Laboratory’s Occupational Medicine group to ensure all psychological and medical requirements are completed. You will work with the Laboratory’s U-Train group to ensure all HRP training is completed. You will work with a 4th Dimension relational database application to track each worker’s certification process by completing electronic checklists within the system.

You will create queries and reports to help track various Personnel Security actions and work with Personnel Security managers to trend data to help identify better business practices. You will make modifications to workflow by creating and updating procedures as needs evolve and data supports. You will work with HRP supervisors and managers across the Laboratory to ensure HRP positions are identified and occupied by HRP certified workers and you will regularly interact with DOE personnel to ensure compliance with all requirements as described in 10 CFR 712. You will participate in all Personnel Security self-assessments, audits and reviews.

Personnel Security is one of the busiest groups at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Your attention to detail and ability to work well with other individuals, groups and independently will be a major part of obtaining success in this position.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Advanced knowledge working with a relational database to include creating queries and reports.

  • Previous experience working in an office responsible for granting access.

  • Knowledge and experience working with 10 CFR 712 (Human Reliability).

  • Proficiency in using a personal computer to include experience working with the Microsoft Suite and networked applications.

Desired Skills:

  • Previous experience using call-center technology and incoming ticketing systems.

  • Active DOE Q Clearance.

  • Knowledge of the Laboratory's security and safeguards policies, practices and procedures and

  • Knowledge of the Laboratory's computer and information security policies, practices, and procedures.

  • Excellent work record of dependability, flexibility, availability, attendance, and punctuality.

Education: Associate’s Degree or Business College Degree in information, records management, or security-related field and a minimum of two years related experience, or an equivalent combination of formal training and relevant work experience.
