Los Alamos National Laboratory Security Specialist 3 (Fraud, Waste and Abuse Investigator) in Los Alamos, New Mexico
What You Will Do
As a Security Specialist 3 (Fraud, Waste and Abuse Investigator) with SEC-SI your primary mission would be tosupport the Laboratory by identifying, responding to and reporting Fraud, Waste and Abuse events in accordance with Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) and Department of Energy (DOE) reporting requirements. Specific roles, responsibilities and expectations are likely to include:
Conducting inquiries into allegations of misuse of government resources, fraud, waste, abuse, and theft of government property.
Investigateallegations of improper governmental activity and serious or substantial violations of Laboratory policy.
Administer the enforcement of parking regulations at the Laboratory.
Communicate to managers for mitigation and corrective actions when they identify internal control weaknesses in Laboratory processes
Provide recommendations to prevent recurrence of fraud, waste, abuse and theft of government property.
Coordinating efforts with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies as necessary.
What You Need
Location: This position will be physically located inLos Alamos.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Extensive knowledge and experienceinvestigating and reporting fraud, waste and abuse incidents.
Advanced knowledge and experience of law enforcement, intelligence, and/or public or private sector security organizations.
Extensiveinterviewing skills and techniques and the ability to prepare concise, objective reports.
Extensive experience and demonstrated skill conducting research, investigating alternatives, and recommending solutions on problems affecting security & safeguards.
Demonstrated ability to write clear concise and objectivefraud, waste and abuseinvestigative reports.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with all level of Laboratory employees in a team environment to meet stringent reporting deadlines.
Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Security, Law Enforcement, or related field and 6 years of experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Knowledge and understanding of DOE regulations, Federal and State Laws, LANL policies, procedures and practices.
Demonstrated knowledge of classified document and CREM handling, marking and protection.
Experience using Computer Forensic Software
Currently active DOE clearance

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served at least one year of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
