What You Will Do

The SI student program offers internships for Undergrad Student students for up to a two year appointment. This program is designed to complement the student’s education with work experience related to their chosen field of study in preparation or consideration of pursuing a Graduate degree. Internships are offered in the following areas of interest: business management, document control and records management, project management and IT support services. Service Innovation (SI-DO) is comprised of two groups that provide critical support services LANL-wide:

Document Control and Records Management (SI-DCRM)

  • Supports quality-assured document control and records management procedures and processes. DCRM assists in designating and configuring document and records management tools and systems used by DCRM personnel to manage, distribute, and maintain Laboratory documentation.

IT Project Management (SI-ITPM)

  • The IT Project Management (ITPM) group provides organizations with excellent IT project management support, which satisfies customer and user expectations.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Desire and ability to work a minimum of 30 hours per week, year round.

  • Must have an interest in project management, business management, Information Technology, document or records management, or communication.

  • Highly proficient in the use of standard office software, such as Microsoft Office Suite Applications including Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.

  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills, including proofreading and editing for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and content.

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Demonstrated excellent customer service skills, organizational and time management skills.

  • Eligibility limited to students who are enrolled in an accredited undergraduate degree program, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or its equivalent, and are enrolled in a minimum of twelve (12) credit hours, or its equivalent, per term.

Desired Skills:

  • Proficiency or experience in the preparation and formatting of correspondence, reports, and presentations.

  • Experience with Microsoft Project

  • Project Management experience or coursework and knowledge of various project management frameworks and tools

  • Experience and demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships and interact with all levels of personnel.
