What You Will Do
This position will be filled at either the Systems Analyst 2 or 3 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.
System Analyst 2 ($77,300 - $126,000)
The selected candidate will work as a Systems Analyst 2 to support the development, configuration, administration, and maintenance of ServiceNow and its components for Los Alamos National Laboratory. Los Alamos Laboratory is expanding its administration/development team to better support this newly implemented application. This will provide the candidate the opportunity to help build the ServiceNow platform at Los Alamos from the ground up.
The successful candidate will be required to:
Work closely with members of the ServiceNow Tools Team, as well as other IT-related groups who use ServiceNow on a regular basis.
Proactively monitor, provide recommendations, and implement changes to improve the quality and efficiency of solutions developed.
Design, develop, modify, test, debug and evaluate workflow solutions to meet functional requirements outlined for the ServiceNow team.
Assist in gathering of business requirements as well as provide recommendations and implementation solutions based on those requirements.
Work with process specialists in the design of new forms and workflow, as well as customization of existing forms and workflow to best fit their identified needs.
Prepare documentation for developed workflow solutions, training and user guides.
System Analyst 3 ($94,100 - $155,700)
In addition to the duties outlined above, the Software Developer 3 will be required to:
Participate with other senior ServiceNow Developers within the ServiceNow Tools Team to help define the strategy and direction that ServiceNow should take at the Lab.
Perform workflow solution analysis, system risk analysis, and software reliability analysis with fellow ServiceNow Developers, System and Database Administrators.
Develop integration strategies and solutions using ServiceNow’s workflow and API interfaces, and other potential solutions to integrate ServiceNow with third-party applications.
Participate in meetings to guide requirements analysis and develop solutions to onboard new groups and divisions using third-party forms and applications into ServiceNow.
Develop custom applications, forms, and workflow in ServiceNow outside the IT Service Management suite to meet the specific custom needs of IT and non-IT services.
Assisting in maintaining the accuracy of data being imported into the CMDB from third-party asset discovery solutions implemented at the Lab.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Minimum Job Requirements Systems Analyst 2
Demonstrated professional experience in the following areas:
Bachelor’s in computer science or related degree, or minimum four years of experience in lieu of a degree.
Four years or more of experience working in the Information Technology field.
Two years or more of experience administering or developing the ServiceNow application.
Strong troubleshooting skills
Strong project management and attention to detail skills
Ability to identify opportunities to design and implement process improvements.
Understanding of ITIL framework, workflows, and integration.
Understanding of Agile Development framework.
Ability to work well with others across multiple teams to gather, anticipate, track, and incorporate new requirements while maintaining configuration management and version control.
Familiarity with federal government security requirements, and ability to implement and assess effectiveness of security controls.
Additional Job Requirements for Systems Analyst 3
In addition to the above job requirements, applicants for System Analyst 3 consideration must demonstrate professional experience in the following areas:
Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related degree, or minimum five years of experience in lieu of a degree.
Five years or more experience working with administration and development of ServiceNow forms and workflows.
Four years or more of experience administering or developing the ServiceNow application.
Strong familiarity with the Software Development Lifecycle.
ServiceNow mainline certifications
ITIL v3 framework and processes certification
Familiarity with BMC Remedy applications and modules
Familiarity with Atlassian Jira for project management
Familiarity with Atlassian Confluence for documentation
SQL language for use with Microsoft SQL or Oracle databases
Experience with other ITSM Tools, such as HP Service Manager or Maximo.
Education/Experience at lower level: Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field and 4 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. Postgraduate degree in related field may serve as years of related experience.
Education/Experience at higher level: Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field and 8 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level, post graduate course work may be expected.

This position will be part of the Laboratory’s Telework Pilot and may work from a remote/home location within a two-hour ground commute of the Laboratory. The Telework Pilot is in effect from Oct. 1, 2020 through Sept. 30, 2021, but may be shortened or extended at the manager’s discretion. Ability to report on-site is a must for this position.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
