What You Will Do
The Weapons Research Services, Secure Networks and Applications (WRS-SNA) group is looking for a Software Developer for our Scientific Software Engineering (SSE) team. The successful candidate will work as part of a team to support development projects with software development tools and processes within the Weapons Physics Directorate (ADX) and Weapons Engineering and Experiments Directorate (ADW). The SSE Team is responsible for evaluating and implementing solutions and infrastructure to allow software development teams to efficiently leverage modern professional software development practices. The SSE team is also responsible for helping software development teams leverage selected solutions and may also assist software development teams with secure coding practices, code efficiency, code repository management and related tasks. The SSE team works with the WRS-SNA Network Security team to ensure established frameworks and solutions comply with required security controls. The SSE team works with system administration staff to install software management tools in support of weapons programs. Administrative responsibilities include maintaining documentation related to the configuration and management of software development tools and frameworks.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Proven ability to work independently and in a team environment to analyze problems, propose solutions to management, and deploy and document implemented solutions.
Demonstrated extensive experience establishing and supporting solutions to support software development projects
Demonstrated extensive experience supporting software development infrastructure for multiple software development teams
Demonstrated extensive experience establishing and managing code repositories for production software development efforts
Demonstrated extensive experience working with imperative and object oriented programming languages such as C, C++, and Fortran
Demonstrated extensive experience working with interpreted programming languages such as Perl and Python,
Extensive experience troubleshooting and working with software compilers and linked libraries
Demonstrated experience working with Atlassian tools including Confluence, JIRA, Bitbucket, and associated plugins
Extensive experience building complex custom workflows for JIRA projects
Extensive experience setting up and working with Continuous Integration tools
This position requires a DOE Q clearance. Applicants must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance.
This position requires a DOE Special Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance. Applicants must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE SCI clearance, which normally requires US citizenship.
Knowledge about working in classified and unclassified computing environments
Experience working with Gitlab, including CI/CD features, where secure configurations and “need to know” must be enforced.
Knowledge about scientific software development.
Education: 8 years of related experience and BS or MS in Computer Science, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
