What You Will Do_

The Production Agency Quality (PAQ) organization is looking for a highly motivated Software Quality Performance Assurance Specialist to support the implementation and oversight of the Associate Laboratory Directorate Weapons Production (ALDWP) Software Quality Assurance program. The selected candidate will assist personnel in meeting defined software quality procedures and process requirements.

Specific Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Oversees the implementation and provides consultation for software engineering process improvement in all software engineering process areas especially the following: project planning, risk management, requirements development and management, verification and validation and configuration management.

  • Reviews software development and documentation for compliance.

  • Applies software quality assurance concepts and principles (e.g., management principles, configuration management, project monitoring and control, etc.).

  • Supports the development of software engineering standard processes and tools in all software engineering process areas.

  • Conducts and supports internal quality assurance assessments in all areas of software engineering.

  • Adheres to policies and programs concerning information technology/cyber security and quality.

  • Develops and mentors staff in software quality assurance principles.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge and experience of quality assurance regulatory, contractual, and technical documents, i.e., DOE Order 414.1D, 10 CRF 830, Weapons Quality Policy (NAP‐24A) and NQA‐1.

  • Advanced knowledge of software engineering concepts, principles and standards.

  • Knowledge of software quality assurance and configuration management.

  • Advanced knowledge of software project management and software project monitoring and control.

  • Knowledge in developing system requirements, software requirements specifications and functional interfaces between system software components and the system‐level design.

  • Knowledge of software design concepts, software maintenance, and user documentation.

  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience of the software verification and validation processes, especially software acceptance testing to ensure that the requirements specification, design, and coding of software adequately fulfill all intended functions.

  • Experience developing, reviewing, and revising Software Quality Assurance (SQA) procedures and plans.

  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience in performing quality assessments, surveillances, and/or audits in all areas of software engineering.

  • Experience working closely with customers and suppliers to define expectations and mutual responsibilities.

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience implementing LANL contract requirements relevant to software quality assurance activities.

  • Knowledge of software engineering standards, especially IEEE and ISO standards for software engineering.

  • Demonstrated experience reviewing and revising SQA procedures and plans

  • A recognized, relative industry certification in project management or software quality inspection/assurance such as PMI’s PMP certification or ASQ’s CSQE certification.

Education:This position typically requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and a minimum of 8 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

HRP: This position is subject to the requirements of the DOE Human Reliability Program as specified in 10 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 712, §712.11. These requirements include on going drug and alcohol testing, as well as periodic medical and psychological evaluations.

The diverse project support base includes but is not limited to; weapons, weapons experiments, MOX fuel, NASA power sources, radiological materials production and various “strategic partnerships” projects.
