Los Alamos National Laboratory Soil Microbial Ecology & Carbon Cycling Postdoc in Los Alamos, New Mexico
What You Will Do
Los Alamos National Laboratory invites applications for a postdoctoral position in the Bioenergy and Biome Sciences Group (B-11) of the Bioscience Division.
A position is available in a research program focused on microbial carbon cycling and climate feedbacks in terrestrial ecosystems. The program uses meta-‘omic strategies to investigate how natural variation in microbial composition can drive large, persistent variation in carbon flow from plant litter decomposition. The successful candidate will perform experiments to decipher mechanisms that underpin long-term control of the trajectory of carbon flow despite ecological succession in decomposer communities.
Successful candidates will work closely with a team of Ph.D. staff scientists, postdoctoral researchers, technicians, and external collaborators.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Demonstrated molecular microbiology/mycology laboratory skills
Strong background in bioinformatics
A demonstrated strong publication record (e.g. 3 to 4 publications from Ph.D.)
Excellent communication and writing skills in English language
Education : Ph.D in Microbial Ecology or a related discipline completed within 4 years or will have completed all Ph.D requirements by commencement of appointment.
Note to Applicants:
This position is for two years with a third year contingent upon excellent performance.
