What You Will Do
Los Alamos National Laboratory invites applications for a postdoctoral position in the Bioenergy and Biome Sciences Group (B-11) of the Bioscience Division.
A position is available within the next 3-5 months in a research program focused on soil microbial carbon cycling and climate feedbacks in terrestrial ecosystems. The program uses metagenomic and transcriptomic strategies to examine how soil microbial communities control carbon flow. This position will focus on the role of viruses in soil carbon cycling.
Successful candidates will work closely with a team of Ph.D. staff scientists, postdoctoral researchers, technicians, and external collaborators.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Ph.D. in microbiology or related discipline (experience working with viruses preferred) completed within the last 5 years;
Molecular microbiology laboratory & strong bioinformatics skills;
A demonstrated strong publication record (e.g. 3 to 4 publications arising from Ph.D.);
Excellent communication and writing skills in English language;
Three strong letters of reference.
The position is for two years, with a third year possible contingent on exemplary performance.
Education: Ph.D. in microbiology or related discipline completed within the last 5 years
Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.
