The selected candidate will lead a team of experienced .Net # Applications Developers responsible for supporting the development and maintenance of key financial, work order, reporting, security and human resource information systems and infrastructure components. Responsibilities include the technical support of the craft payroll, badging, clearance and work order applications. The selected candidate will also be responsible for developing technical 2 to 3 year plans for the technical stack that support these systems. Will also participate in the hiring committee for the group and responsible for the technical development of each team member.

Solutions Architect 4 ($116,900-$197,000)

Incumbent will report to the SAE-2 Group Leader and perform the tasks as described below and any others assigned by SAE-2 Management:

  • Serves as principal architect of large and complex software and database solutions

  • Determines Laboratory-wide requirements and incorporates these requirements into solutions that may be commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) or internally developed software and hardware

  • May be responsible for project management in implementing complex solutions, and/or oversight of project documentation, marketing, training, budget, schedules, resource utilization, and benefits realization on complex solutions projects

  • Develops advanced concepts, techniques, and standards based on professional principles and theories

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Expert in the Information Technology field, specifically in the .Net, C#, SQL-server

  • Extensive experience using Visual Studio and TFS

  • Strong background and record of achievement in two or more enterprise applications; financial, work order, inventory, training, reporting, security, and human resources

  • Demonstrated experience in strong analytic and problem solving abilities

  • Demonstrated experience in strong written and verbal communications skills

  • Demonstrated experience and a record of excellent leadership, management, and supervisory skills

  • Experience in conflict resolution and employee performance management

Desired Skills:

  • Technical experience supporting the LANL Badging application

  • Technical experience supporting the EmPath Craft Payroll application

  • Technical experience supporting the Asset Suite application


  • Position typically requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 15 to 20+ years of related experience. At this level, postgraduate coursework may be expected.

Additional Details:

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter.

*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
