The ASM Division provides procurement services to the laboratory. The Acquisition Services Management (ASM) Division is looking for a highly motivated individual to help support the delivery of services within the ASM Supplier Management Group (ASM-SM). ASM-SM is responsible for the management of the registration, qualification, enablement and performance management processes related to external suppliers (or subcontractors) of the laboratory.
Procurement Specialist 1 ($58.000 - $90,800)
The successful candidate will:
Support the performance of supplier enablement activities. The Supplier Enablement 1 is responsible for ensuring that LANL's supply chain is registered and fully configured on the SAP Ariba Network and digitally transacting with LANL within the SAP Ariba solutions throughout the contracted period of performance. Success in this role is critical to LANL's digitization strategy. The Supplier Enablement Specialist 1 performs the following:
Ensure that suppliers are registered and fully configured for transacting on the Ariba Network prior to the period of performance
Effectively communicate with and supports LANL’s suppliers
Serve as a liaison with internal customers and other stakeholders and understanding their commercial needs for the procurement of goods and services.
Builds and maintains strong working relationships within the Laboratory and with supplier representatives.
Closely coordinate with the SAP Ariba Network enablement team resources supporting LANL
Adopt, meet and/or exceed the KPIs, metrics and other measures that guide the function and measure its effectiveness.
Successfully support the implementation of new Ariba Network features and functions as they are released to production.
Procurement Specialist 2 ($71,000 – $112,700)
In addition to the duties outlined above, the Procurement Specialist 2 will:
Support procurement teams in the sourcing process
Execute the processes of establishing a fully integrated supplier
Partner with ASM and external stakeholders to define and execute improvement opportunities
Demonstrate compliance with established policies and procedures to successfully execute Triad procurements and the related supplier enablement functions
Inﬂuence internal stakeholders and suppliers to attain positive outcomes
Resolve conﬂict with internal stakeholders in procurement and supply
Network with senior internal and external personnel in area of expertise
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Basic understanding of supply chain, procurement or supplier management
Basic knowledge of contract types, terms and legal requirements
Ability to apply and follow standard procurement principles, theories, concepts and techniques.
Possess initiative and the ability to act independently on assigned work
Demonstrated willingness to accept responsibility for all activities and work products associated with assigned work
Demonstrated competency in the creation of clear and concise written documentation in order to capture all aspects of a situation
Demonstrated administrative and organizational skills
Possess good verbal and written communication skills
Additional Job Requirements for Procurement Specialist 2
In addition to the Job Requirements outlined above, qualification at the higher level requires:
Advanced knowledge in supply chain, procurement or supplier management
Possess a strong understanding of the types of Ariba Network accounts and and the mechanics of the Ariba Network fee structure
Ability to effectively communicate in both an oral and written manner with both internal and external customers of varying professional levels
Demonstrated ability to manage customer and/or supplier relationships in a positive manner
Demonstrated relationship building skills, including with external suppliers and/or stakeholders
Procurement Specialist 1 Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution and no dierct experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Procurement Specialist 2 Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution and 2 years of experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated experience with SAP Ariba or other automated purchasing systems
Basic knowledge of law, negotiations and accounting gained through education and experience
Experience with FAR based purchasing requirements or government contractor purchasing system requirements
Demonstrated analytical skills to assess complex business problems and identify solutions

Location: This position will be part of the Laboratory’s Telework Pilot and may work from a remote/home location within a two-hour ground commute of the Laboratory. The Telework Pilot is in effect from Oct. 1, 2020 through Sept. 30, 2021, but may be shortened or extended at the manager’s discretion. Ability to report on-site is a must for this position.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.
