Los Alamos National Laboratory TA-55 Work Control Team Leader (Maintenance Manager 2) in Los Alamos, New Mexico
What You Will Do
The TA-55 Work Control Team Lead is responsible for managing the work control center within TA-55. The WCTL reports operationally to the TA-55 Maintenance Manager. Key responsibilities include:
Increase organizational efficiencies and productivity through improved teamwork and integration of the Maintenance Site Services, Engineering and Operations departments.
Functional and operational direction to Work Control Planners, Maintenance Support Specialists, to achieve excellence in work management
Oversees the preparation, review, and issue of equipment and/or system modifications, corrective maintenance, and/or preventative maintenance work packages in accordance with applicable procedures and regulations.
Reviews changes in scope to active work packages and oversees the revision of the work package if the scope change is determined to be major.
Oversees the development of detailed specifications for materials and labor estimates and the development of step-by-step instructions for work.
Tracks and expedites established priority of work packages.
Manages various functional and administrative activities in conjunction with the primary work control/work package development including, but not limited to, permit development, testing requirements, documentation generation, records management, database information management, retrieval and review, and/or training.
Provides input for budgets; reviews applicable segment of budgets in relation to work control planning objectives to ensure cost effectiveness
Establish and enforce expectations related to safety, procedure compliance, corrective actions and appropriate work behaviors.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Extensive knowledge of working planning and scheduling processes. Thorough knowledge of plant operating practices and procedures.
Previous successful experience in management, supervisor, and human resources administration or an endorsement through the Laboratory’s New Manager On-Ramp Program.
Experience with facility management including systems engineering design and maintenance, safety/authorization basis, configuration management programs, work control, facility control systems, major construction projects, and upgrades and renovations.
Understanding of work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and lock-out/tag-out policies and procedures.
Demonstrated expertise with a computerized work management system such as Asset Suites, SAP, Maximo etc.
Knowledge of government regulations affecting facility maintenance and management.
Demonstrated experience and skill in identifying problem areas, investigating alternative solutions, and determining action to be performed on problems affecting the maintenance program.
Ability to challenge individuals to develop skill outside of their comfort zone. Identify and develop successor to key roles; Deal directly with internal discipline to resolve problems and provide solutions.
Position typically requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum three years of related management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Commercial nuclear power plant experience
Professions Certification as a Certified Facility Manager (CFM) or Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional (CMRP)
