Los Alamos National Laboratory TA-55 Work Control Team Leader (Maintenance Manager 2) in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do

The TA-55 Work Control Team Lead is responsible for managing the work control center within TA-55. The WCTL reports operationally to the TA-55 Maintenance Manager. Key responsibilities include:

  • Increase organizational efficiencies and productivity through improved teamwork and integration of the Maintenance Site Services, Engineering and Operations departments.

  • Functional and operational direction to Work Control Planners, Maintenance Support Specialists, to achieve excellence in work management

  • Oversees the preparation, review, and issue of equipment and/or system modifications, corrective maintenance, and/or preventative maintenance work packages in accordance with applicable procedures and regulations.

  • Reviews changes in scope to active work packages and oversees the revision of the work package if the scope change is determined to be major.

  • Oversees the development of detailed specifications for materials and labor estimates and the development of step-by-step instructions for work.

  • Tracks and expedites established priority of work packages.

  • Manages various functional and administrative activities in conjunction with the primary work control/work package development including, but not limited to, permit development, testing requirements, documentation generation, records management, database information management, retrieval and review, and/or training.

  • Provides input for budgets; reviews applicable segment of budgets in relation to work control planning objectives to ensure cost effectiveness

  • Establish and enforce expectations related to safety, procedure compliance, corrective actions and appropriate work behaviors.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Extensive knowledge of working planning and scheduling processes. Thorough knowledge of plant operating practices and procedures.

  • Previous successful experience in management, supervisor, and human resources administration or an endorsement through the Laboratory’s New Manager On-Ramp Program.

  • Experience with facility management including systems engineering design and maintenance, safety/authorization basis, configuration management programs, work control, facility control systems, major construction projects, and upgrades and renovations.

  • Understanding of work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and lock-out/tag-out policies and procedures.

  • Demonstrated expertise with a computerized work management system such as Asset Suites, SAP, Maximo etc.

  • Knowledge of government regulations affecting facility maintenance and management.

  • Demonstrated experience and skill in identifying problem areas, investigating alternative solutions, and determining action to be performed on problems affecting the maintenance program.

  • Ability to challenge individuals to develop skill outside of their comfort zone. Identify and develop successor to key roles; Deal directly with internal discipline to resolve problems and provide solutions.

  • Position typically requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum three years of related management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Skills:

  • Commercial nuclear power plant experience

  • Professions Certification as a Certified Facility Manager (CFM) or Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional (CMRP)
