What You Will Do

Reporting to the Deployed Services Group Leader for the TA55 Facility Operations Directorate (FOD), the Team Leader is responsible for the direct supervision of Health Physicists, Industrial Hygienists, Environmental Professionals, and Radiological Control Technicians to ensure regulatory compliance requirements are implemented while providing outstanding ESH customer service to meet programmatic missions and milestones. The Team Leader is responsible for tactical execution; ensuring operational excellence; business excellence; mentoring, developing and qualifying staff; developing a teaming work environment; and delivering high quality customer service including maintaining effective relationships with principal investigators/customers to resolve complex problems. The team leader will be expected to spend time “out-on-the floor” observing work and looking for methods/systems to improve work control processes from both a compliance and efficiency standpoint. This position is an opportunity for a motivated, innovative and customer-focused manager to lead personnel with critical skill sets implement the ESH program safely and compliantly at TA55 FOD and ALD Weapon Production facilities.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Supervisory or technical lead experience in one or more Environment, Safety and Health (ESH) disciplines, including Radiological Protection

  • Demonstrated skill in leadership, supervision, and knowledge of human resources administration of assigned employees.

  • Experience interpreting and applying ESH programs, services, standards, regulations, or codes.

  • Ensures employees are qualified, authorized, and work in a safe, secure, and compliant manner

  • Demonstrated applications of conduct and formality of operations.

  • Knowledge and application of risk-based decision-making.

  • Demonstrated field experience working in operational/nuclear facilities supporting, observing, understanding, and improving ESH practices.

Desired Skills:

  • Certification by the American Board of Health Physics, American Board of Industrial Hygienists, or National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologists

  • Knowledge of LANL management systems and requirements, including personnel, budgeting, procurement and ESH.

  • Hazard Category 2 Nuclear Experience

Education Required: Bachelor of Science in a related technical discipline and 4 years of nuclear experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience to meet DOE 426.2 requirements.
