Los Alamos National Laboratory Technical Security Program Specialist (Computer & Information Security Spec 3) in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do

We are seeking experienced professionals to join our team. The Compliance and Accreditation (C&A) Team plans, coordinates, and assists with information security compliance and accreditation related to enterprise networks and IT systems. Our team carries out information assurance and technical security program activities to include security plan management, Protected Distribution Systems (PDS), TEMPEST, and COMSEC. Responsibilities include the following:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in TEMPEST requirements for facility evaluation, evaluate the deployment of wireless technology integration for LANL missions.

  • Assess, interpret, and implement national policy as it pertains to the NNSA Technical Security Program policy for LANL stakeholders.

  • Implement TEMPEST countermeasures and evaluate TEMPEST plans.

  • Conduct annual reviews to determine if existing TEMPEST countermeasures are effective using current DoE/NNSA policies and threat assessments.

  • Participate in the overall TEMPEST program to satisfy national policy requirements.

  • Maintain control/accountability of all NNSA authorized RF devices at LANL.

  • Collaborate with the Technical Surveillance Countermeasures (TSCM) program and Cyber Security entities on a variety of issues pertaining to the electronic processing of data and potential vulnerabilities that may arise.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Advance technical knowledge of and experience with technical vulnerability assessment fundamentals and principles.

  • Extensive knowledge of National TEMPEST Policy and appropriate References per DoE Order 470.6.

  • Ability to complete TEMPEST course work (TEMPEST Fundamentals Course and TEMPEST for System Installation/Facility Design Course) to be certified as an NNSA TEMPEST Site Coordinator.

  • Interpersonal skills that foster teamwork and indicate the ability to interact professionally across LANL and with liaison partners.

  • Ability to travel domestically upon occasion to accommodate training or operational needs.

Education/Experience: Position typically requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum eight years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At this level, post graduate course work may be desirable.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Technical Security, TSCM, COMSEC, PDS, or Cybersecurity.

  • Demonstrate the ability to conduct briefings for senior level management and LANL stakeholders.

  • Current TS/SCI or current DoE Q-clearance.

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 .
