What You Will Do
The INFORMATION SCIENCES CCS-3 Group in theCOMPUTER, COMPUTATIONAL & STATISTICALSCIENCES(CCS) Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) has an opening for creative and resourceful postdoc candidates with substantial machine learning and strong computational and applied math skills. We are looking for candidate withknowledge in: Machine Learning , Tensor Networks, and Tensor Factorization . The successful candidate is to join our CCS-3 Group; however, the work involves collaborations with other LANL groups and divisions. She/he will work on developing and applying novel methods and computational techniques for large dataset analysis based on tensor networks. The research is expected to produce a series of peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals. The term of the appointment is 2 years, with the option to extend to a third year depending on the performance and funding availability.Candidates may be also nominated for a Director's LANL Fellowship and outstanding candidates may be considered for the prestigious Marie Curie, Richard P. Feynman, J. CCS-Division employs about 300 scientists, including many postdoctoral associates and graduate students, with expertise in various facets of computer science, statistics, machine learning and applied mathematics. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and interdisciplinary team that is working on projects related to strategic national-interest problems dealing with development of new machine learning methods with applications in the fields of energy, new materials, biology, and environments.Our research includes active collaborations with universities and other national laboratories. The project also includes extensive research work related to high-performance computing.Access will be provided to state-of-the-art computing facilities within LANL.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
(1) strong code development experience,
(2) machine learning skills,
(3) applied math skills,
(4) demonstrated record of peer-reviewed publications,
(5) fluency in one or more programming languages including high-level dynamic languages.
(1) Application and development of tensor methods
(2) Python, MATLAB, C++ language
(3) HPC and GPU programming
Education: A Ph.D. in Mathematics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Physics, or closely related field completed within the last five years or soon to be completed is required.
