Los Alamos National Laboratory Theoretical Quantum Sensing/Quantum Optics Postdoc in Los Alamos, New Mexico
What You Will Do
The Quantum Technologies Team inMPA-Qis seeking highly motivated postdoctoral researchers in theoretical quantum optics and quantum many-body physics. Working with experimental members of our team, the new postdocs will share responsibility for developing a number of new research directions in quantum sensing with individually-trapped Rydberg atoms.
Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the positions are filled. While the nominal start date for these positions is January 4 2021, it may be possible to accommodate earlier or later starts.
The LANL Postdoctoral Program is a pipeline for hiring technical staff at the Laboratory, many of whom first joined LANL as postdocs. The Laboratory encourages its postdoc mentors to help their postdocs explore possibilities for conversion to a permanent staff position.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research in one or more of the following areas: (1) theoretical quantum optics, (2) theoretical quantum many-body physics, or (3) theoretical quantum information science.
Demonstrated ability to work harmoniously in a diverse team
Desired Qualifications:
Knowledge of atomic physics
Knowledge of quantum sensing with atomic and optical systems
Experience collaborating with experimental groups
An excellent track record of publications and experience presenting at conferences.
Education: Ph.D. in physics, or a related field, awarded within the past five years (or soon to be completed).
