What You Will Do
The Waste Facility Operator (WF) is a trainee with previous relevant experience or operator trainee with some areas of qualification complete. Daily activities will consist of checks and inspects of key components for recording key parameters associated with the facility and monitor facility systems under the instruction of a qualified operator. Performs technical tasks in support of operations, programmatic, maintenance, or engineering activities. Provides direct support to Operation Center staff. Follows local and institutional as well as verbal directions. May be expected to work with multiple support organizations and systems.

Minimum Job Requirements:
Familiarity with the principles of Department of Energy (DOE) Order 422.1, Conduct of Operations Requirements for DOE Facilities or experience in a related field consisting of formal operations.
Ability to understand and identify work hazards, safety practices, and operating configuration.
Ability to understand policies, practices, and procedures.
Basic computer program skills.
Verbal and written communication skills.
DOE order 426.2 requires a high school diploma.
Education/Experience: Position requires a high school diploma and one-to-two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication.

Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
426.2: This position is subject to DOE Order 426.2, Personnel Selection, Training, and Qualification Requirements for DOE Nuclear Facilities, which establishes entry-level requirements to ensure candidates selected for specific positions can successfully perform the requirements of the job.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
