Los Alamos National Laboratory Work Control Planner 2 in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do

Responsible to the TA-55 Projects Work Control Team Lead for developing and/or reviewing work packages including time, material, and labor estimates, written step-by-step work instructions, procedures, and/or safety and testing requirements for the implementation and control of operations, maintenance, or modification of work activities within a given facility or area. Specific planning duties may be related to mechanical, electrical, chemical and/or radiological equipment, policies, and procedures and may include resolving work restraints and bringing work packages to final closure.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of and experience with work control, materials management, and/or mechanical maintenance.

  • Ability to fully understand work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and lock-out/tag-out policies and procedures.

  • Ability to fully understand and interpret various mechanical and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics.

  • Ability to fully utilize and manipulate a computerized work management system in maintaining and tracking work-planning activities.

  • Experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on problems affecting work control and planning.

  • Ability to fully conceptualize and communicate major elements of work control and planning to both technical and non-technical personnel.

Education/Experience : Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree and five years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Full understanding of the Laboratory's work control and facility policies, practices, and procedures.

Location: This position will be physically located inLos Alamos, NM. The Maintenance and Site Services (MSS) Division is a multidisciplinary organization whose primary mission is to provide the Laboratory—both nuclear and non-nuclear facilities—with safe, reliable, and efficient infrastructure maintenance and utilities support.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 . Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
