Los Alamos National Laboratory Work Control Planner 4 in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do

Responsible to the TA-55 Projects Work Control Team Lead for developing and/or reviewing work packages including time, material, and labor estimates, written step-by-step work instructions, procedures, and/or safety and testing requirements for the implementation and control of operations, maintenance, or modification of work activities within a given facility or area. Specific planning duties may be related to mechanical, electrical, chemical and/or radiological equipment, policies, and procedures and may also include resolving work restraints and bringing work packages to final closure.

As a Work Control Planner 4, you will develop, monitor, and validate accuracy, and auditing of performance data, reports, and other statistical information. Maintains database and other programs as required for use in the development of performance measurements and other required data administration. Evaluates processes, programs, and procedures for potential improvements. Develops and maintains maintenance policies, processes, procedures and provides training in support of the conduct maintenance program.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Extensive knowledge of and broad experience with unique and/or complex wok control, materials management, and/or mechanical maintenance.

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and lock-out/tag-out policies and procedures in unique and/or complex facilities.

  • In-depth understanding and ability to interpret various unique and/or complex mechanical and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics.

  • Ability to fully utilize and manipulate a computerized work management system in maintaining and tracking work-planning activities.

  • Ability to fully conceptualize and communicate major elements of work control and planning for unique and/or complex activities, both technical and non-technical personnel.

Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree and 12 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level, post graduate course work may be expected.

Location: This position will be physically located in Los Alamos, NM.

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 . Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements

  • Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

HRP: This position is subject to the requirements of the DOE Human Reliability Program as specified in 10 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 712, §712.11. These requirements include on going drug and alcohol testing, as well as periodic medical and psychological evaluations.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served at least one year of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the one year of continuous service, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader.Please refer to LaboratoryPolicy P701for applicant eligibility requirements.
