What You Will Do

Join the Information and Technology Organization! We are seeking energetic undergraduate students to support the information and technology environment within the Laboratory. The organization provides direct support within operations of the lab to unclassified and classified mission support needs, as well as technical service to the configuration management services for LANL computing environments.

We have exciting opportunities in Project Management, Networking, Telecommunications, Software Development, Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, IT Customer Service, and other related IT roles. We're seeking passionate individuals ready to make an impact in the ever-evolving tech landscape.

For full consideration, candidates must be pursuing one of the following degrees (or equivalent): Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, System Administration, or Information Engineering Technology.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective time management skills, detail oriented, and organized
  • Proven experience collaborating effectively within team environments in various projects
  • Knowledge of, or courses taken in Windows, Mac OS X desktop administration, or Linux
  • Knowledge of, or courses taken in solving software and hardware issues
  • Desire to learn and build knowledge within the realm of Information and Technology

Desired Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in delivering exceptional customer service both remotely and/or in-person
  • Knowledge and/or experience within data analytics
  • Knowledge of and /or experience administrating Linux, Windows, or Mac systems
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with hardware or software applications
  • Knowledge of and/ or experience within Cybersecurity
  • PMP or related Scrum certifications (CSM, PSM, PSPO, or similar)

Education:

Enroll in and successfully complete a minimum of 12 undergraduate credit hours per semester (or the equivalent of full-time enrollment) in a Computer Science, Information Technology, (or relevant IT focus) major.

All candidates must have and maintain a minimum of 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale for consideration and be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours each semester.

Cover letter should include your availability while in school (full or part time, weekly hours and months you are able to work) and date of expected graduation.

Work Location: This position will be onsite in Los Alamos, NM with the potential for occasional teleworking from a location within 2 hours ground commute of this location. Reporting onsite will be periodically required. Telework is at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
