Mobile Device Management (MDM) Team Leader (IT Manager 2)

What You Will Do

The Innovative Customer Experience (ICE) Division is seeking a creative, innovative, and customer-focused IT Manager 2 to join the Device Configuration Services (ICE-DCS) group as a Team Leader for the Mobility Team. The ICE Division, comprised of more than 350 talented Solution Architects, Computing Systems Professionals, and Computer System Technicians, provides cutting-edge IT expertise to various Laboratory organizations, designing, building, and supporting mission-driven technical solutions across both unclassified and classified networks through multiple service touchpoints. This team plays a critical role in optimizing IT infrastructure, ensuring the seamless delivery and operation of IT services, monitoring system performance, applying configuration management best practices, and developing standards and processes for IT implementation.

As Team Leader for the Mobility Team, you will lead the team responsible for configuration, testing, and deployment of mobile device (iPhones, iPads, pagers, and radios) to laboratory users, as well as management of MDM policies, profiles, and compliance rules. You will be responsible for overseeing a smooth transition to Intune, including integration with Microsoft 365 and Azure.

In this role, you will also oversee the implementation and optimization of endpoint security solutions and VPN technologies to protect mobile devices and enforce enterprise security policies. Additionally, you will manage the automation and optimization of mobile device management processes. Collaboration will be key as you work with technical and non-technical stakeholders to enhance mobile security frameworks, streamline device management, and drive IT optimization.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:
  • Experience managing a technical team, providing guidance, and ensuring performance goals are met.
  • Experience deploying, configuring, and managing mobile devices such as iOS and Android in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft Intune, UEM (Unified Endpoint Management) platforms, and/or similar mobile device management solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to engage with different stakeholders across departments, end users, IT teams, and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, understandable language for non-technical stakeholders.

Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field from an accredited institution and 3 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience with Device Lifecycle Management including ability to plan and execute device procurement, provisioning, and maintenance.
  • Advanced Mobile Security knowledge including understanding of Zero Trust security models, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), Conditional Access, and mobile threat defense solutions.
  • Experience in Incident and Change Management including familiarity with ITIL frameworks for handling incidents, change requests, and service management in an enterprise environment.
  • Training/Certifications: CISSP, Microsoft Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate, Azure Fundamentals, and ITIL.

Work Environment:

Work Location: The work location for this position is telework and is located in Los Alamos, NM. Telework is defined as working from offsite but within 2 hours ground commute of this location. Reporting onsite may be periodically necessary. All work locations are at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
