Postdoctoral Research Associate

What You Will Do

The Analytical Earth Sciences (EES-15) and Energy and Natural Resources (EES-16) groups are seeking a motivated individual to join the Radionuclide Geochemistry Team as a Postdoctoral Researcher. This position seeks to fill a role at the intersections of geochemistry, economic minerals, machine learning, and geostatistics as it relates to developing resource characterization tools around Uranium mineral deposits and in situ recovery of those deposits. We are especially seeking individuals with graduate or professional experience in mineral resource characterization.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:
  • A PhD in Geochemistry, Geology, Earth Sciences, or a closely related field.
  • Experience working with geochemical and geophysical data
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and data management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills as evidenced by a record of scientific publications.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Julia, C++, Fortran)
  • Education/Experience: A PhD in Geochemistry/Geology/Mining Engineering or a closely related field.


Desired Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with geospatial analysis/information systems and software
  • Proficiency with machine learning and geostatistics libraries and frameworks
  • Knowledge of geochemical principles and laboratory techniques

Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Salary: Competitive salaries are based on the date the PhD degree requirements were completed or the degree was awarded. Starting salary for a new graduate is currently $94,500. Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. No Clearance: Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.
